Igala:When can we get it right by Felix Solomon

IGALA: WHEN CAN WE GET IT RIGHT? BY FELIX SOLOMON(CREDIT)
The Igala Nation stood tallest amidst the committee of the Pre - Colonial Nigerian Nations due to our focused leadership then.
History also has it that Igala Nation span from the present day Koton Karfi down to Ibaji and other surrounding which includes part of Anambra, Edo and Benue. All these happened as a result of the quality of leadership we had in those days.
Our problem started during the colonization when some Igala elites became sycophants, interpreting wrongly to our colonial masters what our people didn't say. The colonial masters used our own people to destroy our unity and integrity.
Creating Igala Native Authority in order to reduce our political influence on other tribes around us that we control.
The real journey into the Minority started with the creation Kabba province that deprived the Igalas of their status of one the powerful ethnic group because instead of stopping at Idah for our political, cultural and economic meetings, we have to travel to Kabba for all the meetings and decisions of the territory.
With the creation of twelve states in 1976 instead of given us our own status we were again trapped in Kwara State making our situation worse than it were because of the distance and conspiracy.
When the Nigerian government created more states, ideally Igala supposed to have a state of her own but our leader were always known to fight for their own interests. We remain a minority again in Benue State.
In 1991 when there was another chance for us to stand solo, while Igala was agitating for Okura State, the Ebira and Okun were agitating for Kogi State. Is it that we didn't have people that could push us? Why do we always get it wrong?
Well in Kogi we had the power but they (Okun and Ebira) had the name and the Capital. Are we still minority in Kogi? My answer could be NO because we have ruled Kogi State since from creation until lately when God called Audu
How did Yahaya Bello came to power remains a mirage to every Igala sons and daughters.
With our population how did Yahaya Bello came second in the primary election?
I think something is wrong with us fundamentally, I think we need to do more, I think the youths of today are still towing the part of Igala of yestergeneration that have allowed us to remain in a minority camp since from the inception.
Let us wake up and do things differently, you don't do things same way and get different result.
Igala is because bigger than all of us, the fall of Igala is the fall of every family in Igala land. Wake up my people, let there be unity. If we are the leaders of tomorrow let us put to test today.
Thank you all
